One Love Festival Preview
The first 2nd-4th of September this year will play host to the ‘UK’s number #1 Reggae & Dub Camping Festival’ in a new location for 2016. Previous years have seen the event take place near Milton Keynes however this year festival goers will attend on the new camp site on the outskirts of London. With nine years of love for the Jamaican born genre One Love festival has, and continues to, supply sound system vibes of great names such as Lee “Scratch” Perry, Saxon Sound System, Sir David Rodigan and Mad Professor. The three day event will showcase the best in Dub, Reggae and Roots music with a family friendly atmosphere, One Love is an experience to be remembered and a whole culture to embrace.

What To Expect
One Love festival boasts the best in Reggae and Dub music and with a handful of stages and sound systems you can expect a weekend of ‘ear to ear smiles’, skanking, good vibes and sound system clashers going dub for dub. Friday brings the beginning of the ‘Battle of the Dubplates’ with Heat 1, selectors for the first heat are listed below;

Headlining the One Love stage is no other than the mighty pioneer Lee “Scratch” Perry who has recently celebrated his eightieth birthday still continues to supply the vibes and also on the stage with almost forty years in Reggae and Dancehall music, Macka B. Other stages across the festival bring artists such as Guyanese producer and engineer Mad Professor and Digitaldubs Sound System on the Dubshack stage whilst the Madiba stage brings Bath based seven piece Maitree Express bringing their unique blend of soulful Reggae, Dub, Ska and Drum & Bass, others on the Madiba stage are Irelands Dub Doctor Sound System and Ska/Reggae six piece band The Downsetters.
On Saturday a whole new array of talent will grace the stage, including King Lorenzo the well known singer-songwriter from St Ann, Jamaica. The King Solomon crew will supply Caribbean vibes with their unique blend of Dance hall, Reggae, Rock and Funk and the revolutionary and conscious female artist Jah9 will also perform. (with any luck, attendees will get the chance to experience her unique creation, Yoga on Dub)
The Dubshack and Madiba stage’s boast a range of international and homegrown talent throughout the festival, but Saturday will feature the likes of Half Pint, Smith and Mighty, Kabaka Pyramid, Dubateers, Last Tree Squad, Lion Star Music and many more. Saturday also brings heat number 2 of the ‘Battle of the Dubplates‘ hosted in the Saxon Sound Arena, which is sure to be a unique and exciting atmosphere, considering sound clashes are heavily rooted in Reggae and Dub culture.

The final day of the One Love experience brings another vibe filled one with the final heat of ‘Battle of the Dubplates’ with the winner being the last one standing, also on the agenda will be acts including Trojan Records originals, Desmond Dekker & The Aces, female Dancehall prodigy Sister Nancy, London’s singer/songwriter Natty, Instrument Of Jah Sound System from Middlesborough and Brazilian Reggae star Junior Dread. Of course there will be plenty more exciting DJ’s, Sound Systems and live bands to see and the whole weekend looks set to be an immersive Dub and Reggae experience.
